About

The group was set up in 2005 to offer support and friendship to patients, carers, families and friends to those suffering from head and neck cancer.

Very little can prepare you for the shock of hearing that you have cancer and one of the most frightening things is learning to live with the diagnosis. After the diagnosis you may experience shock, disbelief, fear, anger, guilt, sadness, grief and even depression. you may also feel numb or confused and find it hard to understand or remember what you are told during this time. The main aim of our group is to offer friendship and support in the form of meeting and speaking to other people who are going through or have been through something similar to your experience.

We meet approximately every 6 weeks, sometimes just for a meeting and a chat and other times for social events. These can vary from quiz nights to meals out, from coffee mornings to cream teas and the occasional barbecue, weather permitting of course. we sometimes have guest speakers to complement our meetings, these can be other mutual support and encouragement, including lots of laughter.

if you feel unable to make the first move to attend one of our meetings but feel the need to talk to one of us, please do not hesitate to call or email through our contact page.
